The Portrait of The Polish Nation

The idea is quite simple. To document Polish people staying in the UK...

How to do it? To take pictures - but it is too easy...

People will be photographed with one thing which was brought from Poland. It must be something very personal, something unusual... For example: my friend has taken the hippo-bag (the bag in the shape of hippopotamus) but she's never used it... Peculiar? Yeah, very, but interesting as well...

About Me and Project

I'm studying photography at Stevenson College in Edinburgh under the guidance Matthew Sowerby. This project, about Poles is not only a part of my course, but also something more... I was born in magic Krakow and spent most of my life in Poland... Now, I'm taking part in a huge Polish migration to the United Kingdom. Thousands (if not millions) of Poles came here. To find better life? I had work, home, friends... I left it. Why? I don't know. It wasn't economic or social issue. It's something more... An adventure? A challenge? A restless soul? Maybe...
For some of us Britain will be new homeland, for some only next stop to the faraway journey or to come back... Most of us still keep Poland in the heart... sometimes at the bottom - but still keep...
I'd like to show Poles as an integral part of British society, as a normal people who are living here... but with their own identity.
